NASA recently announced the full list of companies selected for Phase II contracts through its Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program. Made In Space was selected for two Phase II contracts for proposals focused on space interferometry and manufacturing space optimized materials.
The Phase II awards will support additional development on Made In Space technology focused on delivering unprecedented capabilities in space. NASA’s SBIR program is a three-phase program. Phase I work and results provide a sound basis for the continued development, demonstration and delivery of the proposed innovation in Phase II and follow-on efforts. Phase III is the commercialization of innovative technologies, products and services resulting from either a Phase I or Phase II contract.
NASA’s SBIR program is an important example of how strong public-private partnerships can accelerate crucial technological development to support future space exploration and commercialization efforts.
