The European Space Agency’s (ESA) PROBA-3 mission, the world’s first precision formation flying mission set to create an artificial eclipse to further our understanding of the Sun and its impact on Earth, is set to launch later this year. Ahead of the launch of this historic mission, and in honor of the upcoming solar eclipse, ESA hosted a media day at Redwire’s facility in Belgium for Proba-3 partners and members of the media.

Redwire is proud to be a member of the Proba-3 team, responsible for spacecraft integration, testing, along with the onboard computer and for integration, testing, and the development of one of the technology demonstration payloads: the 3D Energetic Electron Spectrometer (3DEES), a high-fidelity 3D energetic electron spectrometer. Following successful spacecraft integration at Redwire’s Belgium facility, the Redwire Operations Team completed successful testing of both spacecraft and subunits.
