On August 15, a SpaceX Falcon 9 launched a pair of Maxar Intelligence imaging satellites from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida. The Maxar-2 mission lifted off at 9:00 a.m. ET. It is the second of three launches needed to deliver Maxar’s constellation of six WorldView Legion high-resolution imaging satellites. WorldView Legion are electro-optical imaging satellites used to collect imagery and map the planet. Maxar Intelligence is the U.S. government’s primary provider of commercial electro-optical imagery.
Redwire is proud to have delivered six spacecraft sets of Coarse Sun Sensors to Maxar for the Worldview Legion program. The Coarse Sun Sensors are used for applications including solar array pointing, sun acquisition, and failsafe recovery.
