Redwire is proud to have provided advanced engineering services and payload deployment expertise for X-Bow System’s Bolt Rocket, which launched on June 8 from White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. Leveraging its expertise in critical deployment subsystems, Redwire worked closely with X-Bow, an industry-leading solid rocket motor company, in the development of their next-generation launch vehicle.
Redwire developed and delivered the launch vehicle structure, separation system, launcher interface, and ground support equipment. Redwire also provided vehicle integration, launch, and post-flight recovery support. By leveraging Redwire’s expertise in these areas, X-Bow was able to focus on their core technology development. This technology opens the door to quicker and less expensive launches for a variety of customers and applications that can revitalize the U.S. solid rocket motor industrial base.
Redwire also supported Bolt’s first successful test launch in July 2022. Further testing and development of Bolt have led to improvements of the suborbital vehicle and the development of a version of the vehicle that will be capable of orbital flight.
The technology supporting Bolt and the XL-2 mission was developed through Redwire’s Albuquerque, New Mexico facility, which specializes in design, development, and testing of mechanical and structural components for satellites and launch vehicles and has been used in more than 20 spaceflight missions.
